It’s important for everyone to learn first-aid but it’s even more important as a parent to learn first-aid so you can take care of your child in case of emergencies.

As parents, you are always careful when it comes to your babies but sometimes accidents may happen. In such cases, learning to do first aid will definitely come in handy.

“First-aid” means immediately helping someone in case of any injuries or accidents. The purpose of performing first-aid is to keep the person alive and help them recover while you call for an ambulance.

You might need to help your child, if:

1- they have simply cut their finger

2- get a severe asthma attack

3- break their arms accidentally

4- is unconscious

5- bruised their eyes

6-they choke while eating their food

7- If your baby gets burnt accidentally

8- Ingest any poisonous, toxic substance

In these cases, you can learn first-aid to perform on your child until the medical help arrives to the scene. To learn first-aid, you can do so by going for a face-to-face training or even learn online while sitting in the comfort of your home.

These are the following steps you need to remember to take with first aids:

DRS ABCD

D :- It stands for danger.

Make sure you, your child and others are safe.

R:- It stands for response.

Try to check if they are responding to you and monitor their responses.

S:- This stands for send for help.

You can call for an ambulance immediately.

A:- It stands for airway.

You can check if their airway is clear. Open their mouths and try to clear their airway with your fingers.

B:- This stands for breathing.

Check if they are breathing normally. Try to listen to the pace of their breathing. If they are not breathing, try to perform CPR.

C:- This stands for CPR, cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

You can perform CPR by 30 chest compressions and 2 breaths. You can continue until the medical help arrives.

D:- It stands for defibrillation.

You can apply a defibrillator if necessary.

While you can learn first-aid, it’s also a good idea to have emergency contact numbers handy on your phone, like your doctor, poison information and other emergency services.
